2+2 Saturdays: A new format for this newsletter

2 ideas to optimize your life + 2 curated pieces of content

Yo!

This is an experimental newsletter I’m sending out called 2+2 Saturdays.

(2 ideas or products to optimize your life + 2 curated pieces of content)

Previously I’ve been writing super long newsletters that I now think might work better as blog posts. Let me know what you guys think of this.

💡 Idea of the week

Charlie Munger, a legendary investor who recently passed away at the age of 99 years old, was once asked by a young man for career advice. He said he had only three rules:

  1. Don’t sell anything you wouldn’t buy yourself.

  2. Don’t work for anyone you don’t respect and admire.

  3. Work only with people you enjoy.

Great guiding principles to live by.

Product of the week

Keychain Reusable Earplugs. About 2 years ago I started carrying these earplugs on my keychain wherever I go and it’s saved me so many times in super loud concerts, restaurants, or even movies.

Even just 30 minutes of loud sounds can cause permanent hearing loss (which will never heal again, it’s pretty scary). It happened to someone close to me which is why I now think it’s a tiny investment that could go a long way.

📖 Book I’m Reading:

Ultralearning by Scott H. Young. This is a book that breaks down the patterns behind people known as “ultra learners”. The author himself has learned several languages and skills. A few years ago I learned Japanese inside a year and passed the highest level fluency exam and the principles in this book definitely reflects the method I used to do so. Easy read, would recommend!

🍿 Documentary I’m Watching:

This is Not Financial Advice. This is a documentary about the crypto bubble around the 2020-2022 period following the guy who was known as the “dogecoin millionaire.” I’ve seen that guy on podcasts like Iced Coffee Hour and thought it was cool to see his story from an up close perspective. Really well-made documentary that gives you a new perspective on investing and how it’s a zero sum game.

Hope you have a good weekend! Let’s get it this week 🤝
