How to not feel tired after eating
I wore a cgm for the past 90 days
Yo!
đź’ˇ Learning of the week
So I’ve been wearing one of these CGMs (continuous glucose monitor) for the past 90 days and it’s changed my eating habits a lot. It’s a device meant for diabetics, but I’m just using it to see how I can optimize my focus & diet . This is also my next video, but here’s the TLDW summary lol
There’s individual variation for sure, but I think these are pretty universal. I tested out different foods that I was curious about too, like whether or not artificial sweeteners spiked my glucose levels (which they didn’t, but they consistently made me very hungry)
One big takeaway I found is that feeling tired after a meal is really caused by glucose spikes. But studies have shown that you just walked for literally 2 minutes after the meal, you could reduce that spike by a lot, which can prevent yourself from feeling tired after eating. I try to do something after every meal now, vs just sitting more.
📖 What I’m Reading
I started reading this book called Indistractable by Nir Eyal which shares a framework so that you can increase your focus. The author makes the case that distractions really start from within but beyond that, you still need to consciously cut out distractions. The difference is “traction” and “distraction” is that one leads you to your goals, and one pushes you away from them. Idk if I’ll finish this book tbh lol
🍿 Update of the week
This past week I tested the actual caffeine levels of popular energy drinks like prime, red bull, coke, celsius, and more. This was a pretty experimental vid but was super fun to make, go check out the video!
Happy Sunday,
Eric
